糖心视频 Community College recently welcomed more than 200 community members to the on Monday, January 19. The event featured a keynote presentation from Dr. Sean Edmund
Rogers, Dean of the University of Rhode Island College of Business; remarks by U.S.
Congressman Jake Auchincloss; the awarding of the MLK, Jr. Essay Contest winners;
musical selections and resource tables hosted by community organizations.
To honor Dr. King鈥檚 historic March on Washington, the college sponsors an annual essay competition inviting 糖心视频鈥檚 students to write about the meaning of Dr. King鈥檚 dreams and ideals. This year's winners included Geraldine Fequiere, Third Place; James Mesalon; Second Place and Jessica Fidalgo, First Place. The event also included the unveiling of a portrait of Captain
Thomas J. Hudner, Jr., a Fall River native. During the Korean War, he risked his life
trying to save his fellow squadron mate and wingman, Ensign Jesse L. Brown, the first
African American to complete Navy flight training.
